DOUGLAS H. LEE, AIA, was born in Korea in 1941. He is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering in 1965. Following his graduation, Mr. Lee joined the staff of the world renowned architect, Paolo Soleri, where he was the Chief Architect contributing to the design and construction of Arcosanti, Soleri’s experimental three-dimensional city near Prescott, Arizona.

Mr. Lee’s work spans the globe. Prior to founding Lee & Sakahara Architects AIA, Inc. in 1979, Mr. Lee went abroad as the Director of Design for a multi-national architectural and engineering firm, gaining a wealth of international experience. With experience that extends over three decades and a licensed architect in 20 states, Mr. Lee is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and holds the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Certificate. He is a trustee of the Cosanti Foundation.

As the Founder and CEO of Lee & Sakahara, Mr. Lee is responsible for overall operations and strategic planning. In addition, he actively participates in many of the firm’s projects. Mr. Lee personally manages all of the firm’s international projects, and oversees the operations of the regional office in Seoul, Korea.

RONALD I. SAKAHARA, AIA, was born in California in 1944. An honors graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, he received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1969. Following graduation, Mr. Sakahara served briefly with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Prior to co-founding Lee and Sakahara Architects AIA, Inc., Mr. Sakahara served as Director of Design for two prominent Southern California architectural firms. In this capacity, he designed numerous projects throughout the U.S. and received several design awards for his achievements.

As the President of Lee & Sakahara and Principal-In-Charge of design, Mr. Sakahara actively participates in the firm’s design and planning efforts. His diverse range of experience includes numerous industrial, commercial, and hospitality projects. Mr. Sakahara is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm. He has been practicing architecture since 1969 and is licensed in 22 states. Mr. Sakahara is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP), California’s Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH), and holds the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Certification.

DAVID R. KENDALL , AIA, was born in San Diego, California, in 1948. He graduated with honors from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1971 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and obtained his California license in the spring of 1974. After a diversified internship with three Southern California architectural firms Mr. Kendall joined Lee & Sakahara in October of 1979 and has risen through the ranks from Job Captain to Project Manager, Associate and Senior Vice President. He became a Principal of the firm in December of 2002.

Mr. Kendall has worked on a wide range of project types, from single family residential to student housing, clubhouses, casinos, industrial, retail, office, postal facilities, military dining facilities and numerous hotels and restaurants, throughout the United States and abroad.

As Principal and Director of Production, Mr. Kendall's primary responsibilities include project management, client liaison, quality control, code compliance and construction administration. He is a long time member of the Orange County and California Chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

GARY E. CONGDON, AIA, (LEED Certified) was born in Atlanta, GA in 1950. He is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1973. In that same year, he moved to Las Vegas to begin work with Archisystems, a division of Summa Corporation.

Mr. Congdon has been actively involved in architecture and construction in Nevada since 1973. Prior to joining Lee & Sakahara in 1996, Mr. Congdon was the Principal of his own firm for 16 years. He is a registered architect in Nevada, California, Arizona and Utah. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and holds the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Certificate. He is on the Government Affairs Committee for the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP Southern Nevada Chapter), and served two years on the Area Zone Advisory Committee for the Clark County School District.

Mr. Congdon has over 15 years of experience on military projects at Nellis AFB, Creech AFB, Edwards AFB and Ft. Irwin. He is responsible for LEESAK's military project program and the primary point of contact for these projects.

As the Principal of Lee & Sakahara’s Las Vegas office, Mr. Congdon is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s architectural practice in Las Vegas. In addition to client liaison and managing agency relations, he actively participates in the design, planning, and construction administration of all projects.
